Show Report LaurelView 30th Nov

Northern Ireland Dressage’s Winter League continued at Laurelview Equestrian Centre, Templepatrick, on Sunday 30th November 2014. It was a busy day with close to 100 entries as competitors were wishing to acquire as many points as possible in this third leg of the league. However, competitors were thrilled that the cold snap stayed at bay and the sun shone while they enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of Laurelview.

The quality and standard of performance from both horses and riders was superb with many scores lying in the 70% range. Martina McKinley had the pleasure of judging the popular Preliminary class and it was Emma Hobson on Rolando scoring 72.41% who won her section, whileCiara Donnelly on Baywood scored 68.45% and Erin Faloona riding Margie Mac gained 67.07, both brought home the red rosettes in their preliminary sections.

Will McAuley kindly judged the Novice 28 class and again it was Erin Faloona, 75.83% on Supreme Judge and 74.37% on Margie Mac, and Emma Hobson on Ludovik K, 74.79%, who continued their winning streaks. This class also contained solid performances from Linda McIlwaine on Beachmount Baxter, second place on 75.20%, and Anne Killen on Riverview Patrick, second place on 73.95%. Doug Stevenson, 73.27%, and Debbie Cherry, 70.68%, both gave outstanding performances to win Novice 39 judged by Vanda Robinson.

Lucy Adams took the hot seat to judge the Elementary and Medium classes with Sarah Reid giving a polished performance on Ballynolin Sirocco to win the Elementary, 64.37%, and Katie Burns riding Caracas II winning the Medium 63 section on a score of 65.86%.

Vanda Robinson went on to judge Medium 75, the Advanced Medium and the Para Individual classes. Jennifer Howes demonstrated the unique partnership she has with Ballyknock Squire, taking home the red rosettes for both Advanced Medium classes, and it was Geraldine Lowry who did exceptionally well on her mount, Ringfort Nimmerdino, in the Para Individual sections.

One of the highlights of the day was Courtney Stuart riding Fanfarron 8, showing us all how it is to be done in the Prix St. George and Intermediate One sections.
